As Homer recounts in the Iliad, a group of Greek peoples has been besieging the city of Troy for several years in retaliation for the kidnapping of Helen of Sparta by Prince Paris of Troy. Citizens of both sides make their offerings to the Gods to win their favours and thus help or hinder the heroes present on the battlefield.
