With Crôa you take control of a pond that is revealed as your frogs move. Make the best use of its resources: males to make babies and enlarge your colony, mosquitoes to deploy you faster, logs to take a strategic position, etc. But beware of pikes and opposing frogs, which will not give you any gifts! The aim of the game is to capture the opposing queen or queens. Each in turn can move his Queen or a Maid one square. The nature of the Queen or Maid is revealed by turning over the card you are moving to. Some cards/boxes are beneficial (they allow you to play again for example), others are evil (Pike eats your pawn).
There are also male cards/boxes that allow the Frog Queen to reproduce: this is how you can win new Handmaid counters during the game. This gives a definite strategic advantage. It is possible to use an advanced version where you have to put the cards/boxes face down after uncovering them. In this Memory style version, you need a good dose of memory to remember dangerous places.
