During the summer of 2018, Scythe fans from all over the world were invited to share their ideas for new features to create 32 new Encounters cards to be integrated into the Scythe base game. The result was a flood of creativity and ideas that Jamey Stegmaier distilled, sharpened, and arranged to make this successful participatory operation a reality! Thus were created these 32 unpublished cards present a number of innovations in the dating system.

Scythe was funded on the Crowdfunding Kickstarter (See the campaign) platform on the Nov 6, 2015, the campaign lasted 23 days. 17,739 people helped funded the game, whose the amount requested was $33,000.00. Thanks to these 17,739 people the game could be funded up to $1,810,294.70, ~5,485.74%.
