In Tapestry, players have the difficult task of creating and developing a fictional civilisation. From the beginning of its era to a future time, players will have to think about how to make their civilisation prosper as efficiently as possible. There are four possible paths of development: science, technology, exploration and war. There are also other actions to complete to earn points, such as increasing your income or building a capital city. Choose from a variety of new civilisations, complete unique objectives to build monuments on your capital city and interact deviously with your opponents in this first Tapestry expansion.
Tapestry's game mechanics are based on a system of placing tiles on a common board for all players and placing workers on an individual board. It also integrates a hand management dimension and an exponential system of points to score according to the choices made during the game. Tapestry is a strategic game with a high degree of replayability. The game also features a single player system.
The game is played in several rounds. A player has two possible actions: either the player collects his income and starts a new era, or he advances his player token in several steps. The player with the richest civilisation wins the game. The game ends at different times for each player. For one player, the game ends when he completes his 5th and final round of income. When all players have completed their last round, the player with the most points is declared the winner.
